Type of institution
The IBIS is conceived as a multidisciplinary biomedical research space within the complex that houses the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío, center of a high level of care, teaching and research in order to carry out world-class competitive research on the causes the diseases most prevalent in the population and the development of new diagnostic methods and treatment for them.
The IBIS is based on fundamental research at the molecular or cellular level in order for the immediate transfer of knowledge to clinical reality, while enhancing quality research and clinical epidemiology.
To elucidate the mechanisms involved in protein accumulation and neuroinflammation during both, normal aging and pathological aging (transgenic mice models of Alzheimer disease).
