Confronting issues of aging requires a multidisciplinary approach, which is the core of the gerontological orientation. The Center for Multidisciplinary Research in Aging is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences and acts as a comprehensive University Research Center, bringing together scholars, professionals and clinicians from various departments in the University, the Soroka University Medical Center and other community health and welfare services.


The goals of the Center are related to research, teaching and services to the public. The specific goals are: 1) Enhancing multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research in aging; 2) Promoting knowledge of the issue of aging in the region and throughout the nation; 3) Initiating and supporting interventions directed to improving treatment and services for the aged; 4) Contributing to the development of the future leadership in gerontology and geriatrics and 5) Influencing policymakers and key persons in the services to improve current services and develop new services.
