Description

The Abt. Gerontopsychologie is a department of the Institute of Psychology of the Technical University of Brunswick.

Aims

It is the main aim of the Abt. Gerontopsychology to undertake interdisciplinary scientific research into the prevention of health problems in old people who need care, by developing technological solutions for compensation of mental and physical handicaps.

Main research areas

One main research area is undertaking research about acceptance and evaluation of the advantages of technical developments that enable old people to live in their homes, in spite of health problems (meaning they do not have to move into long-care nursing homes). Another research area is the analysis of the changing psycho-social situation of old people in Turkey.
