The BMBF / VDE Innovation Partnership AAL promotes the development of these technologies in the following ways:
It creates space and opportunity for an early and broad exchange among all stakeholders by involving all stakeholders.
It creates an environment for innovation, as we edit topics detached from specific incentive measures and promote.
It develops ideas and solutions in a broad consensus.
In working groups, workshops, seminars and joint excursions always specific issues are at the center. These also serve as a springboard for interdisciplinary and inter-professional exchange, to develop a common understanding, a common culture.

As part of the AAL-day research techniques and innovative business models are being developed. If the information gained through data, processes, dependencies and evaluated systematically collected and made available for further use, there is the potential that AAL-solutions increase the sustainability, technology acceptance, security, robustness, adaptability and better integration into existing structures such as eg the reach of health care. But it also raises questions such as privacy, role models, algorithms and reference models, user interfaces, hardware and software platforms, etc., that go beyond individual projects, technologies or business models.

Main research areas

Relative to potential problems experienced information technology (IT) in today's AAL research and funding environment, but with remarkably little attention. Therefore, one objective is the potential of IT in the AAL environment, the demands on IT in the AAL environment and identify the research and funding needs and to create a framework and recommendations for safe, sensible and efficient use of IT in the AAL environment.
