Description

El Instituto Cajal (IC) es un Centro de Investigación en Neurobiología perteneciente al Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).

Aims

se dedica al estudio de la involución morfofuncional normal (senil) y patológica del Sistema Nervioso Central para explicar la patogenia de las enfermedades neurodegenerativas y buscar nuevas líneas de tratamiento. Los estudios se llevan a cabo con un abordaje multidisciplinario, morfológico, histoquímico y bioquímico. Se estudian las enfermedades de Alzheimer y Creutzfeldt-Jakob en humanos, el scrapie en la oveja y modelos experimentales de Alzheimer y de estrés oxidativo del SNC en ratas.
