The Alberta Centre on Aging at the University of Alberta is an interdisciplinary research and network Centre dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of research into aging. 
To promote research, education and service in aging through interdisciplinary collaboration through partnerships with stakeholders and through engagement with the community at lage.  We support junior faculty through small grants and awards and the Student Liaison Group.


The Alberta Centre on Aging is dedicated to enabling scholarship in aging to provide the highest possible standards of research by:

  • Fostering, promoting and monitoring research excellence through facilitation, networking and research mentoring

  • Collaboratively promooting leadership and direction in research across disciplines and faculties

  • Providing leadershiop in public education, communication and promotion of research within the lay community

  • Representing the university's research into aging to its internal and external audiences.

Main research areas

The Centre is committed to working in partnership with regional health authorities, community groups, gerontological associations, academic institutions and other organizations.  The Centre promotes the adoption of innovative technology with reference to aging and to enable independent functioning within society and the community.
