Description

The Institute is a research centre under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Aims

The Institute has two principal mandates:

  • To conduct interdisciplinary research on the biological, psychological and social dimensions of the life course and aging;
  • To provide graduate and post-graduate education on the life course and aging.

Main research areas

Research at the Institute covers several areas:

  • Life course transitions
  • Family and the life course
  • Marginalized older populations
  • Health and social services for older adults
  • Policy and aging
  • End of life issues
