Description

The Centre for Research into the Older Workforce has been created in response to the growing policy interest in the ageing population, and to the wish of Governments to encourage more people to stay in paid work later in life. The Centre for Research into the Older Workforce exists to study the issues which arise as Government seeks to encourage people to stay in work later in life: in terms of individual motivation, employers' behaviour, and education and advice services.

Aims

The Centre is part of the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (which has extensive national expertise in education, training and older people). It has three principal roles:

Raise awareness of, and provide information on, the ageing workforce and its implications for individuals, employers and the economy
Research the working of the older workforce, independently and in collaboration with other agencies

Support networking between agencies with interests in this field
