Summary of key aims
The NIOI was founded in 1953 with the major role to minimize economic imbalances and to ensure economic backup to every citizen/family in case of temporary or permanent distress in Israel. The NIOI charges insurance fee on regular bases from the broad public and pays to the entitled.
The NIOI has a research and forsight department which is in charge of data gathering, analyzing , publishing and dissemination. The data are used as a baseline for argument and persuading policy makers to tackle socio-economic issues. Ageing population in Israel comprise of a major part of these issues.

Surveys, research, discussion papers, special operations, poverty reports, annual and periodic reports, social security journal.
