Summary of key aims

-To trace the demographic evolution of the active population

- To understand the process of ageing in the work environment

-To analyse individual and collective situations in the work place and the role of experience

- To examine the group aspects of the work environment as they apply to an ageing work force

- To study the links between different age groups and the evaluation of their performance

- To study how individual factors external to the work place influence professional careers

- To develop an awareness of the challenges concerning the period leading up to retirement

- To take into account competences in the definition of changing structures within the work force and how strategies evolve within companies in this respect

A Scientific evaluation committee meets three times a year, chaired by Annie Borzeix, director of research and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Pr Peter Westerholm, NIWL, Sweden, Pr Marianne Lacombley, Universite de Porto, and Mr Eric Verdier, Laboratoire d'Economie et de Sociologie du Travail (LEST).
