Summary of key aims
"The Center for Ageing Sciences and Social Policy Research (ZENTAS) has been founded in 1990 by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Anton Amann and was inaugurated officially at the Scientific Provincial Academy in Krems in spring 1993.
From 1997 the Academy (that is now called Provincial Academy of Lower Austria) and thus the ZENTAS has been located in the governmental district in St. Poelten.
Regarding the scientific approach to the topics and problems of ageing the ZENTAS is focused on three main issues:
- basic research, innovation research and application research
- knowledge management (teachings und further education, libraries, database)
- elaboration of models/policy advice (advicing practitioners and expertise)
The ZENTAS has always been engaged in focusing on converging the three main issues of its research and on developing the advicing of practitioners in order to comunicate research findings and the resulting operating and methodically controlled strategies by cooperating directly with people seeking advice. At the same time it has been doing vast literary investigations on a variety of topics in the field of ageing research. Therefore the ZENTAS as an operating unit is a project that integrates gerontological education and further education, commissioned research on demand in the field of social policy, methodical development and advicing practitioners in the social field."
