Open call for multidisciplinary ageing research launches on 1 June 2011
On 1 June 2011 the European Research Area in Ageing (ERA-AGE) will launch a joint call for multidisciplinary research in "Active and Healthy Ageing Across the Life Course". The programme of research is dedicated to the achievement of enhanced and healthy ageing and, in particular, to address the major priority established by the AHAIP (Active and Healthy Ageing Innovation Partnership) of a 2 year increase in healthy life expectancy in the European Union by 2020.
Nine countries in Europe and North America have committed more than €3 million to fund research projects of up to three years. Innovative research proposals are invited, from multidisciplinary and multinational teams, to investigate the biological, behavioural, physical, economic, environmental (including housing), technological and social barriers and to support active and healthy ageing across the life course.
This will be Europe's first joint call for ageing research and follows the second call of ERA-AGE's unique post-doctoral fellowship programme FLARE - Future Leaders of Ageing Research in Europe.
Full information on the call themes, processes and application forms will be available from the ERA-AGE website on 1 June 2011. http://www.era-age.group.shef.ac.uk/
